  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter softened to room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and let it preheat for about 10 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together for 2 to 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or rounded tablespoon to drop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 11 to 13 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly underdone.
  9. Let cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2 minutes after removing from the oven.
  10. Move cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Slightly underbaked cookies are better than overbaked ones. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft. For thicker cookies, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can substitute ingredients for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or low-carb versions.
