Method
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and let it preheat for about 10 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together for 2 to 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring on low speed until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon.
- Use a cookie scoop or rounded tablespoon to drop dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 11 to 13 minutes until the edges are golden brown but the centers still look slightly underdone.
- Let cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2 minutes after removing from the oven.
- Move cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Slightly underbaked cookies are better than overbaked ones. Store cooled cookies in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep them soft. For thicker cookies, chill dough for 30 minutes before baking. You can substitute ingredients for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or low-carb versions.
