  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Equipment

  • Small mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk or fork
  • Airtight glass jar or container
  • Spoon for stirring

Method

  1. Gather all dry ingredients and place them within arm's reach of your mixing bowl to ensure nothing is forgotten.
  2. Measure and add 3 tablespoons of paprika and 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper to the mixing bowl as the flavor foundation.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of garlic powder and 2 tablespoons of onion powder to the bowl to provide savory depth.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of white pepper to create a complex pepper heat.
  5. Measure and add 1 tablespoon of salt to the mixture to act as a flavor enhancer.
  6. Stir in 2 teaspoons each of dried oregano and dried thyme for authentic Creole-Cajun flavor notes.
  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes and 1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin for additional spice kick and earthiness.
  8. Whisk all ingredients together thoroughly for about 1 minute until evenly distributed and clumps are broken up.
  9. Transfer the finished seasoning blend into an airtight glass jar and store in a cool, dark place for up to six months.

Notes

Label your jar with the date to keep track of freshness. Adjust cayenne pepper to reduce or increase heat as desired. Store away from sunlight, heat, and humidity to preserve potency.
