Method
- Place your martini glass or coupe in the freezer for at least five minutes while you prepare the drink.
- Using a jigger, measure out 2 ounces of vodka and 1 ounce of raspberry liqueur into a cocktail shaker.
- Pour 1.5 ounces of fresh raspberry juice and 0.5 ounce of fresh lemon juice into the shaker.
- Add ice to the shaker until it is about three-quarters full.
- Close the shaker and shake hard for about 10 to 12 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and cold to the touch.
- Using a strainer, pour the cocktail into your prepared martini glass, leaving the ice and any pulp behind in the shaker.
- Drop three to four fresh raspberries into the glass, or thread them onto a cocktail pick and rest it across the rim.
- Serve immediately while the cocktail is cold and flavors are bright.
Notes
Make fresh raspberry juice by blending a cup of fresh raspberries and straining through a fine-mesh sieve; this takes three minutes and transforms the entire drink into something noticeably fresher and more complex than any bottled option.
