Ingredients
  

Main
  • 2 ounces premium silver tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice about half a lime, squeezed fresh
  • 0.75 ounce agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 4 to 5 thick slices fresh cucumber English cucumbers work best
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: one thin cucumber slice for garnish
  • Optional: salt or Tajin seasoning for rimming the glass

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or mason jar with tight lid)
  • Jigger or shot glass for measuring
  • Muddler or back of a wooden spoon
  • Cocktail strainer or fine-mesh sieve
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Bar spoon or long spoon for stirring
  • Cutting board and knife for cucumber prep

Method
 

  1. Slice your cucumber into 4 to 5 thick rounds, roughly half an inch thick.
  2. Fill your rocks glass with ice and set it aside to chill.
  3. Place the cucumber slices directly into your cocktail shaker.
  4. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, press the cucumber slices down gently about 4 to 5 times to release juice without crushing.
  5. Add 2 ounces premium silver tequila, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, 0.75 ounce agave nectar, and a pinch of sea salt into the shaker.
  6. Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker, filling it about halfway.
  7. Close the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  8. Using a cocktail strainer, pour the drink into the chilled glass filled with fresh ice, leaving the muddled cucumber solids behind.
  9. Garnish with a thin cucumber slice on the rim or dropped into the drink and serve immediately.

Notes

Don't skip the pinch of salt; it amplifies all the flavors in the cocktail and enhances the cucumber's natural taste.
