Method
- Place your shot glass or rocks glass in the freezer for at least five minutes before you start mixing.
- Cut a lime in half and juice both pieces using a citrus juicer, straining out any pulp or seeds into a small bowl. Measure exactly 0.75 oz for one drink.
- Add a generous handful of ice cubes to your cocktail shaker, filling it about halfway.
- Measure 1 oz of silver tequila with a jigger and pour it into the shaker over the ice.
- Measure 0.5 oz of triple sec with your jigger and add it to the shaker.
- Measure 0.5 oz of blue curaçao and pour it into the shaker with the other ingredients.
- Pour the freshly squeezed 0.75 oz of lime juice into the shaker.
- Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and cold.
- Using a Hawthorne strainer, pour the mixture from the shaker into the chilled shot glass or rocks glass, leaving the ice behind.
- If desired, express the oils from a lime wheel over the top of the drink and drop it in as garnish. Serve immediately.
Notes
Keep everything ice cold and measure lime juice precisely. Use fresh lime juice only. Shake vigorously for best mixing and chilling. Serve immediately for optimal flavor and presentation.
